Ingredients:

  • 250g cheap porridge oats.  908
  • 50g chopped nuts (or more oats).  309
  • 125g butter.  939
  • 75g golden syrup. 457
  • 125g brown or golden caster sugar.  500

Extras (choose one):

  • 75g choc chips (optional).  421
  • 75g raisins (optional).  220
  • 75g cherries (optional).  245

Method:

  1. Preheat oven 160°C Fan/Gas Mark 4.
  2. Grease and line 10" ceramic flan dish, OR, 2x 7.¾x5" Pyrex dishes.
  3. In large saucepan; Melt butter, sugar and syrup.
  4. Add oats, nuts, extras. Stir to combine.
  5. Transfer to dish, compress with spoon.
  6. Bake for 20-25 mins, until lightly golden.
  7. Cut in dish after 20 mins cooling.
  8. Cool completely. Break apart.

Calories minus extras = 3112

  • 3110 / 12 = 259
  • 3110 / 16 = 194                                        

Tip: Make ½ recipe in one 7.¾x5" mini roaster. Bake for 20-25 mins.
